Democrats didn’t just roll over and die after President Trump won his landslide re-election victory in 2024.
The left retreated into backrooms and began plotting to derail Trump.
And Democrats had one secret impeachment plan ready before Trump was even sworn in.
The Real Clear Politics polling average shows Democrats hold a 5.7% lead over Republicans on the generic ballot question of which party Americans want to see in control of Congress.
If that lead holds, it’s more than enough for Democrats to flip the four seats necessary to reclaim the majority in the House of Representatives.
And Democrats are making no bones about what tops their agenda for day one if they run the House.
That’s impeaching President Trump.
Democrats are already boasting to the media that they plan to come roaring out of the gates, filing articles of impeachment the second Hakeem Jeffries seizes the Speaker’s gavel.
“This is something that I keep saying to our leadership… we need to have a very concrete, coordinated strategy,” Congresswoman Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) said in an interview with Axios.
Rodriguez argued Democrats needed to begin making the case for impeachment now, telling Axios that her party needed to “build up the case so that when we are in power in January, we’ve created the conditions… we’ve done the fact-checking, we’ve done the shadow hearings, everything we need to be able to impeach [Trump].”
The Illinois Congresswoman compared Democrats seeding the ground for impeaching Trump to how Republicans began agitating to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas, Joe Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security, for opening the border while they were still in the minority.
Rodgiex declared that’s the same thing we have to be doing.” Adding that, “Not that I’m saying I want to copy Republicans, but … starting this work in January is too late.”
Democrats already forced a vote on impeaching Trump last December.
Texas Congressman Al Greene pulled procedural tricks to compel a vote on his articles of impeachment for Trump, accusing six Democratic lawmakers of sedition for a video they made urging the troops to disobey Trump’s orders.
In a warning sign for the left, nearly two dozen House Democrats voted with Republicans to reject the articles of impeachment.
Some Democrats realize impeachment is a political loser.
President Trump’s approval ratings reached their highest point in his first term after the failed Ukraine impeachment hoax.
Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.) saidDemocrats would be wise to learn that lesson because even if Trump has “done something in this Congress that justifies the conversation,” that Democrats know impeachment is pointles because the Senate will acquit Trump as there aren’t 67 votes for conviction adding that “ but we’ve already seen twice unless you’re going to get a two-thirds majority in the Senate… the president will not be removed from office.”
