Former First Lady Michelle Obama despises President Trump.

There is no love lost there.

And JD Vance’s reaction to this insult about Michelle Obama sent shockwaves through DC.

In an interview with popular podcaster Joe Rogan, Vice President Vance addressed UFC fighter Josh Hokit’s dig at Michelle Obama after winning his fight at UFC 250 at the White House.

Rogan asked Vance if he was more surprised at the various submission holds the fighter employed or Hokit declaring “Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?” during his in-ring post-fight interview.

Media figures, Democrats, and even UFC boss Dana White denounced Hokit for insulting Michelle Obama.

Vance treated it like another day at the office.

“Definitely the armbar part,” Vance replied. “I work in politics. People say crazy stuff all the time, man.” 

Rogan said he didn’t think a show at the White House was the right time or place for Hokuit to joke about Michelle Obama being born a man.

“Again, not the best thing to say at the White House. ‘Michelle Obama is a man’ is not the best thing to say,” Rogan answered.

Vance agreed on that point, but went on to say that the media meltdown and ensuing struggle session, where Democrats demanded every Republican denounce the joke, was out of proportion for what actually happened.

“Fair, but the reaction to it, to me, was still totally disproportionate,” Vance replied. “Dude, people say stuff all the time. OK, I live –I work in a business where, obviously, people make life-and-death decisions all the time. And I’m always a little bit caught off guard by the culture that overreacts, when clearly the thing that Josh is trying to get is the overreaction in the first place, right?” 

Vance said there is a simple answer if you find a joke “offensive,” which, according to Vance, is to understand that not every piece of comedy is for your tastes, and you get on with the rest of your life,” but in today’s day and age, the woke mob will ‘kind of lose their minds.”  

Rogan compared the reaction to Hokuit’s crack to the left-wing temper tantrum over comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a “floating pile of garbage” during a set at Trump’s pre-election rally at Madison Square Garden.

Vance agreed and slammed the scolds who wanted to censor comics or demand apologies for jokes they don’t like.

“I’m like, ‘He told a joke,’ and the person’s response is, ‘Well, it’s not a very funny joke,’” Vance told Rogan. “And my response to that is, ‘You know, what happens when somebody tells me a joke that’s not funny? I don’t laugh, and then I move on with my life.’ This whole industry around outrage, especially getting outraged around humor, I think, is actually really hurting the country.”
