The GOP Establishment is Sleepwalking Towards a 2026 Disaster

GOP consultants went into 2026 thinking they could rely on the map to maintain a Senate majority.

In order to flip the four seats necessary to seize the majority, Democrats would have to win races in states like Ohio, Texas, Florida, Iowa, and Alaska – all states Trump won by double digits in 2024.

But the polling reality tells a different story as Democrats lead in Texas, Ohio, Alaska, Maine and North Carolina, enough to flip the chamber and install Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader.

American Majority CEO Ned Ryun appeared on Ingraham’s program and warned that Senate Republicans were “whistling past the graveyard” as control of the Senate was in play and that the conservative base was depressed over the Senate’s failure to pass Trump agenda items like the SAVE Act.

“We’re ten weeks out from today, from the midterms. I think Republicans are kind of whistling past the graveyard on some of these Senate seats that they thought were safe, whether it’s South Carolina, whether it’s Alaska, whether it’s Iowa, whether it’s Nebraska, Ohio. We got to kick it into gear over these next ten weeks, or we’re looking at not only losing the House, but losing the Senate as well,” Ryun stated.

Ingraham Levels with the Audience

Ingraham admitted on-air that Ryun’s comments “kicked up a fuss” among Republican political operatives.

But Ingraham said these same high-paid consultants needed to hear the message because they were slow on the draw to attack Democrat candidates for the growing threat of socialism in America.

“Well, I think he’s on to something, not to be overly pessimistic or believe all the polls. We’re not. And I know it’s been a long primary season, but Republican candidates have been pretty slow and not all that effective in taking on the Democrats and their tilt towards socialism,” Ingraham remarked.

Ingraham mocked consultants for raking in big money while sitting on massive war chests, relying on an antiquated belief that no one pays attention to campaigns until after Labor Day and that the GOP midterm convention would juice turnout.

“In response, well-paid consultants, and they’re making a lot of money, argue that media buys for online, radio, and TV advertising are best placed after Labor Day. That’s the conventional wisdom. Plus, they say that the first-ever GOP midterm convention coming up in just a few weeks will be a major catalyst for base voter turnout,” Ingraham declared.

Democrats are up on the air pummeling GOP candidates with attack ads.

And the midterm convention is scheduled opposite the NFL’s two opening games, which will diminish the Republican Party’s audience.

Ingraham said there is still time to turn around the polls and hold the Senate, but that the GOP consultant class is fumbling the chance.
