Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is under fire.
But now, Hegseth is under attack from his fellow Republicans.
And John Kennedy raised one terrifying concern about Pete Hegseth.
The Establishment Continues the Anti-Hegseth Drumbeat
From the moment, President Trump named Hegseth as his choice to lead the Pentagon, the establishment sought to derail his candidacy.
But even though Hegseth oversaw the successful raid that captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, the swamp is still seeking to drive Hegseth from office over Hegseth purging woke generals and leakers from the Department of War.
Retiring RINO Senator Thom Tillis attacked Hegseth after Hegseth’s latest deep state culling.
“He is creating a leadership void at the top of our military ranks,” Tillis ranted on social media. “I urge the President to find a new leader at the Pentagon who will retain and empower our military talent rather than diminish it.”
NBC’s Kristen Welker interviewed Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) and quizzed him about Hegseth’s leadership of the War Department.
“Do you still have confidence in Secretary Hegseth?” Welker wondered.
Kennedy notably didn’t say yes.
“Well, it’s not my place to have confidence in him,” Kennedy answered.
“Well, you’re a senator,” Welker followed up.
Kennedy’s Concerning Answer
Kennedy then defended the officers Hegseth cleared out as “good people” before going on to say that he didn’t regret voting to confirm Hegseth.
“Here’s why I see Mr. Hegseth doing, ” Kennedy added. “Let me say this first. He’s consolidating power. That’s clear. He seems to be firing some pretty good people. Whether they deserve it or not, I don’t know. I voted for him. I’d probably vote for him again until evidence is shown to me that he shouldn’t have fired these guys. But I’m not worried about the personalities.”
But then Kennedy offered an answer that worried Trump supporters.
Kennedy said the biggest issues facing the military were recruiting enough troops to fight a Iran and other potential wars and partnering with Ukraine in the war against Russia.
“I’m worried about two things. We need more butts, not just for Iran but for the world. And number two, we need to be partnering up with Ukraine to develop a new way to fight wars. And that begins with drones. And number three, we need to give the military some more money. We’re going to have to probably do it for reconciliation. Because the Democrats hate Trump so much that they don’t want to spend money on the military. And that’s the way I see it. You may disagree. But that’s what makes the world go around,” Kennedy added.
President Trump is looking to end the wars in Iran and Ukraine.
Many Senate Republicans, like Senator Kennedy, want to see those conflicts extend.
