California Governor Gavin Newsom spent the last two years positioning himself to run for President.

What just happened left Democrats Speechless.

And Gavin Newsom made one shocking confession that made everyone rethink 2028.

Gavin Newsom Claims He Won’t Run for President in 2028 if Kamala Does

Gavin Newsom set off a political earthquake when he told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he wouldn’t run for President in 2028 if Kamala Harris ran as well.

“Of course not, why would I?” Newsom told Tapper when Tapper asked if Newsom would challenge Kamala. “I wouldn’t do that to her, I wouldn’t do that to you, I wouldn’t waste everyone’s time. Who needs that?”

Tapper asked why that was the case, and Newsom replied that he and Kamala shared the same base of supporters and it would be a case of “mutually assured destruction” if they both ran.

“No, I wouldn’t,” Newsom added. “First of all, electorally, it’s a gift from God for everybody else that can enjoy the hell out of it. Mutuality assured destruction; it serves no greater good.”

But not all is what it seems.

Kamala’s former finance chair and donor Mark Buell said in an interview with journalist Zohreen Shah that Kamala was running for President in 2028 and that Newsom was just keeping his options open.

“I think for sure Kamala is (running), and Gavin hasn’t made up his mind yet,” Buell told Shah.

“It’s two years away. There’s no active underground fundraising effort being done. Everyone is waiting for midterms being over,” Buell went on to say.

A Window into Newsom’s Real Mindset

Few media outlets paid much attention to the rest of Newsom’s interview as the ran with the quote about him not running in 2028 if Kamala got in the race.

But in his other remarks, Newsom sounded very much like a Presidential candidate telling Tapper that his decision to lock down the beaches during COVID was “insane.”

“I mean, the idea we closed down beaches was insane, in hindsight,” Newsom stated.

The image of police arresting a lone paddleboarder in California became a symbol of the tyrannical oppression of COVID fanatics like Newsom.

However, even in real time, people understood Newsom went off the deep end in closing the beaches.

Newsom also symbolized Democrat hypocrisy on COVID when he got caught having a dinner party at the French Laundry restaurant after mandating Californians limit the size of their own Thanksgiving gatherings.

In addition, Newsom also tried to express regret for locking down the schools for more than a year.

“Obviously, the schools taking too long [to reopen]. A lot of districts were open, but the big ones weren’t. LA refused, and I regret that, obviously.,” Newsom added.

Americans’ anger at the Democratic Party’s COVID mandates and restrictions still simmers to this day.

By expressing contrition for his authoritarian COVID restrictions, Newsom is trying to soften his image with the public, which is exactly what a Democrat would want to do if they plan to run for President.
