Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has a bad problem on his hands.
The source of this headache is coming from within his own party.
And John Fetterman derailed Chuck Schumer’s big anti-Trump hoax by admitting one truth.
Chuck Schumer savaged the SAVE Act and its requirements of voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote as “Jim Crow 2.0.”
“It’s Jim Crow 2.0, and I called it Jim Crow 2.0, and the right wing went nuts all over the Internet. That’s because they know it’s true. What they’re trying to do here is the same thing that was done in the South for decades to prevent people of color from voting,” Schumer ranted.
Schumer then made up a bunch of fake reasons Democrats oppose the SAVE Act,
“For instance, if you change — you’re a woman who got married and changed your last name, you won’t be able to show ID, and you’ll be discriminated against. If you can’t find a birth certificate or a proper ID, you’ll be discriminated against. This is vicious and nasty.
And I said to our Republican colleagues, it will not pass the Senate. You will not get a single Democratic vote in the Senate. We’re not reviving Jim Crow all over the country. And when the American people hear what exactly it is doing and what its intent is, they’re going to be against it as well,” Schumer continued.
The SAVE Act would slam the door on voter fraud, and President Trump argued the only reason anyone would oppose voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements to vote is that they scheme to cheat in elections.
Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman is up for re-election in 2028 in a state President Trump won twice.
Fetterman knows smearing voter ID as racist is terrible politics in battleground states since polls show more than 80 percent of Americans support voter ID.
In an interview with Fox News Channel’s Maria Bartiromo, Fetterman said it was a lie to call voter ID racist or that it would suppress votes.
“As a Democrat, I do not believe it’s unreasonable to show ID to vote. I remind everybody that less than a year ago in Wisconsin, they added that requirement to their constitution with a 63% vote to require ID to vote,” Fetterman began.
“And they also elected a very, very liberal justice to their Supreme Court. So it’s not a radical idea for regular Americans to show their ID to vote,” Fetterman contended.
Fetterman decried Schumer’s “Jim Crow 2.0” smear and also opposed Schumer’s plot to shut down the Department of Homeland Security in the government funding fight.
“These things are absolutely not Jim Crow or anything like that. Of course, that’s part of an awful legacy in our nation long ago. But where we are now, trying to find a way forward, calling balls and strikes, seeing what’s reasonable—I hope we don’t have to do this again and fail to pay TSA people and everyone else,” Fetterman concluded.
Polls show that even more than 70 percent of black Americans support voter ID.
No one is buying what Chuck Schumer is selling when he falsely claims voter ID is the modern equivalent of Jim Crow.
