Donald Trump is used to getting his way inside the Republican Party.
But this, Trump heard one word he never expected.
And Donald Trump made one demand that didn’t turn out the way anyone predicted.
Establishment Republicans are pressuring President Trump to endorse RINP incumbent Texas Senator John Cornyn as he heads into a May runoff with pro-Trump State Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Cornyn and the GOP establishment spent $100 million for Cornyn, an incumbent since 2002, to win a little over 40 percent of the vote.
Conservatives want an alternative.
The swamp supports the pro-amnesty, pro-gun control, anti-Trump Cornyn.
“I think, as probably you know, Martha, I’ve made no secret of the fact that I hope the president will endorse John Cornyn,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum.
Cornyn wrote Joe Biden’s gun control bill, attacked conservatives as radicals, and boasted that his number one goal in running for another term is to push an amnesty bill for tens of millions of illegal aliens through Congress.
Thune and other establishment Republicans claim Cornyn is the only Republican who can hold the seat in November.
Sen. Cornyn accused President Trump of the same thing the establishment is accusing Paxton of: Not being able to win the general.
The only issue?
In the most recent University of Houston poll on potential matchups, Paxton performs better against Talarico than Cornyn.

Trump posted on Truth Social and announced he was getting ready to endorse in the race and that whoever he didn’t pick should immediately drop out.
“It is such an honor to realize and say that almost everyone I Endorse WINS, and wins by a lot, especially in Texas! I will be making my Endorsement soon, and will be asking the candidate that I don’t endorse to immediately DROP OUT OF THE RACE! Is that fair?” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Paxton told Just the News that he was staying in the race even if Trump endorsed Cornyn.
“I’M STAYING IN THIS RACE,” Paxton declared.
Paxton reminded voters that Conryn was Never Trump in 2016 and 2024 and that conservatives deserved to vote for someone who actually supported Trump and his agenda.
“No, I’m staying in this race. I owe it to the people of Texas. I’ve spent a year of my life campaigning against John Cornyn because John has not represented the people of Texas well… He’s been against Trump in both of his elections, said he shouldn’t run last time…The people of Texas, at least the Republicans, would like something different,” Paxton added.
In 2016, Cornyn described Trump as an “albatross” who would sink the entire Republican ticket.
“We can’t have a nominee be an albatross around the down-ballot races,” Cornyn told CNN about what he thought of Trump. “That’s a concern of mine.”
In 2023, Cornyn told reporters that Trump was a loser who couldn’t beat Joe Biden.
“I think President Trump’s time has passed him by,” Cornyn stated. “And I think what’s the most important thing for me is that we have a candidate who can actually win.
“I don’t think President Trump understands that when you run in a general election, you have to appeal to voters beyond your base,” Cornyn added.
Cornyn also attacked Trump’s plan to build a border wall.

By comparison, Paxton was the one who filed the lawsuit with the Supreme Court to overturn the 2020 election due to fraud.
Many conservatives believe Cornyn will vote to convict Trump if the Democrats win Congress and impeach Trump.
