The war with Iran is now in its fourth week.
Americans are wondering what the endgame is.
And now, Donald Trump unleashed one secret plan for Iran that will change history.
President Trump fueled his political rise by riding the backlash to the endless regime change wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When President Trump launched the Iran War, he promised Americans a quick campaign that would end in a decisive victory by ending Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
But President Trump may have another objective in mind.
Journalist Mark Halperin said on his 2-way platform that, based on stock market gyrations and spiking oil prices, it may appear that war hid a road bump.
“Except for the discussion of potential peace talks, this is not a great day if you want the war to be over soon. That’s my read of the news,” Halperin stated. “Except—the markets. The markets loved today. Dow up 305 points, S&P up 35 points, NASDAQ up 167, and oil down—Brent crude is still around $100 a barrel. So why are the markets so happy?”
But Halperin went on to say that Trump bet big on the long game because, in Trump’s estimation, leaving a theocratic regime in place wouldn’t solve the problem of Iran wanting a nuclear bomb even if the war destroyed its capabilities.
Halperin then went on to say that he believes that Trump went into this war by forging a secret agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to only end this war once America and Israel changed the regime in Iran.
“The whole point of this extraordinary unauthorized attack, of all this firepower, of assassinating a bunch of foreign leaders, is because this regime has been run by crazy theocratic murderers,” Halperin continued. “And if you replace a bunch of crazy theocratic murderers with a bunch of crazy theocratic murderers, you haven’t really solved the problem.”
“So I believe—although it’s been played down, and although I believe the president could end the conflict without this—I believe there’s been a plan to do regime change, and to not end this without it,” Halperin concluded. “How did World War II end? With the Japanese and the Germans surrendering. They can, as the president likes to say, do it the easy way or the hard way.”
Halperin said Trump meant it when he said Iran could do this the easy way or the hard way.
“They can surrender now, agree to the president’s plan—or they can do it the hard way and surrender after more of them have been killed, and perhaps after there’s been an uprising in the streets,” Halperin declared.
Halperin said this prediction wasn’t based on reporting, but rather his reading of events.
“Now, before everybody goes crazy, I’m not predicting that this will only end in regime change, and I’m not saying my sources have told me that. But based on the totality of what I know, I believe that’s what’s happening,” Halperin concluded.
George Bush destroyed his presidency and his legacy by launching regime change wars in the Middle East that turned into forever wars.
Mark Halperin believes President Trump is gambling that he can pull off this feat without embroiling America in an endless war.
