The ladies of The View have never made a secret of their contempt for President Trump.

Every few weeks, one of them reaches for the same constitutional fire alarm.

And Sunny Hostin just pulled it again, with a demand that would toss out the votes of tens of millions of Americans.

The Nebraska Rally That Set Off ABC

President Donald Trump rallied supporters at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center in Grand Island, Nebraska, on October 5, 2026, according to The Daily Beast.

Part of the speech dealt with the war with Iran and the strain it has put on prices at the pump.

Trump didn’t dodge the gas price question. He called the war-driven bump “just artificial” and admitted “it’s a little bit high,” according to a transcript Breitbart News published.

He also told the crowd what he wants out of the fight. “I want to see a tremendous victory,” Trump said. “You want to see a tremendous victory because it verifies all the things we did.”

Then he delivered the lines that lit up every cable booker in Manhattan.

“They can take out a city. Let it. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego,” Trump said, adding that “this is a very small price to pay.”

Trump’s meaning was obvious to all.

The President was making the argument that high gas prices were a small price to pay to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and incinerating two American cities.

But the liberal media purposefully twisted his words to create a fake scandal in the hopes of swaying Americans into voting for Democrats in the midterm election.

Navarro Lit the Match, Hostin Poured the Gas

On October 6, 2026, Whoopi Goldberg teed up the rally clip by describing the conflict as Trump’s “deeply unpopular war in Iran that’s sending gas prices soaring.”

Ana Navarro jumped in first. She claimed Trump was “basically inviting this regime to come out and take two American cities,” according to TV Insider.

Navarro then rattled off a string of insults that sounded more like a thesaurus entry than political commentary. “We cannot normalize the unhinged, deranged, manic, evil, outrageous behavior by the president of the United States,” she said.

Hostin went further.

“He’s deranged, man,” Hostin said. She pointed to the populations of the two cities and noted, “We’re talking about 10 million Americans.”

And then she went for the big one. “It’s just I think it’s time for people to really start taking seriously the possibility of maybe the 25th Amendment and taking seriously the possibility that this man is deranged,” Hostin said.

Notice all the hedging packed into that sentence. “Possibility.” “Maybe.” Another “possibility.” For somebody calling for the removal of a sitting President, Hostin sure left herself a lot of exits.

A Talking Point She Can’t Quit

Anyone who watches the show knows this wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment outburst.

Hostin raised the 25th Amendment on September 8, 2026, the day The View returned from its summer break, according to Fox News. She openly wondered when people would start seriously considering it.

But that earlier appearance revealed something more interesting than the demand itself. Hostin laid out a timeline.

“I think when the Republicans lose the House, and they lose the Senate, they’re going to want to have some control over this person,” Hostin said at the time, before speculating that the Cabinet might then turn to the 25th Amendment and install Vice President JD Vance.

Read that again. Her scenario doesn’t hinge on any medical diagnosis or any finding of incapacity. It hinges on an election result. Hostin tied the removal of a President to how the midterms shake out, which tells viewers exactly what kind of tool she thinks this amendment is.

Fox News described the 25th Amendment as giving a President’s Cabinet the power to remove him if he can’t do the job. Losing a few congressional seats doesn’t make a President unable to do the job. It makes him a President whose party lost some seats.

And this spring, Hostin had the same reaction to an AI-generated image of Trump depicting him in the likeness of Jesus Christ. Her answer then was two words, “25th Amendment,” according to Yahoo News UK. Trump said afterward that he viewed the image as depicting him as a doctor “making people better.”

Hostin also has company at the table. Fox News reported that Goldberg and Joy Behar have both floated the 25th Amendment since Trump returned to office. Behar once asked, “What is that amendment for if not for this?”

Why the 25th Amendment Talk Keeps Coming Back

Here’s the thing the panel never quite says out loud.

Voters handed Trump the White House in 2024. They knew exactly who he was, how he talks, and what he planned to do. Nobody in America walked into a voting booth confused about Donald Trump’s speaking style.

The 25th Amendment chatter amounts to a way of saying those votes shouldn’t count if the hosts find the man distasteful enough. Every rough sentence at a rally becomes a fresh exhibit in a removal case that the panel had apparently already decided before he ever opened his mouth in Grand Island.

But the strategy carries a cost for the people pushing it. When a show calls for invoking the 25th Amendment over a meme, over a rally riff, and over a hypothetical midterm loss, the words start to lose their punch. The alarm rings so often that the neighbors stop looking out the window.

There’s also the small matter of who actually holds this power. Not ABC. Not daytime hosts. The amendment puts the decision in the hands of the Vice President and the Cabinet, the very people Trump picked. Hostin seems to know that, which may explain why her September version of the plan depended on Republicans first losing Congress and the Cabinet then panicking.

None of this makes the Iran war a small issue. Gas prices matter to every family filling a tank, and Trump himself acknowledged the pinch. Those are fair debates about policy, cost, and strategy.

But a fair debate isn’t what happened on that set. The hosts skipped straight past the policy and landed on removing a President from office.

Where This Goes From Here

The midterms sit just weeks away, and Hostin has already tied her 25th Amendment fantasy to the results.

Expect the volume to rise if the election goes the way she hopes. And expect the same talk to keep coming if it doesn’t, because the demand never really depended on events in the first place.

Trump will keep holding rallies and keep talking off the cuff, the way he has since he first came down the escalator. The View will keep clipping those moments and reaching for the same amendment.

Viewers can decide for themselves which side has the clearer grip on reality.
