Border Czar Tom Homan is the public face of President Trump’s mass deportation agenda.

Americans got a major update.

And Tom Homan made one announcement that left Trump supporters’ jaws on the floor.

Homan told Fox News that Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin was the driving force behind a decision to pause all ICE vehicle stops to arrest illegal aliens for deportation.

“Well, that decision was made by the secretary, along with leadership at ICE. But, look, it’s not a policy change; it’s a temporary pause. Look, we had — the last couple of shootings, ICE leadership, along with DHS, believes they want to look at these last couple of incidents and look, is there something that could have been done better, is there any training that can be improved? Or is ICE simply doing a job, and bad things happen when people don’t comply with law enforcement officers? So, I think it’s going to be a short pause, and I’m confident that ICE is well trained in vehicle stops, and you’re going to see us keep moving forward. But this is just a temporary pause where they look at the incidents,” Homan told host Will Cain.

Mullin’s announcement came in the wake of fatal shootings involving ICE agents in Maine and Texas.

This so-called “temporary” pause in ICE vehicle stops is in place with no firm date for when it will end.

Mullin already faced skepticism over his past comments that were supportive of amnesty for illegal aliens.

Now there are concerns in the rank-and-file that Mullin sabotaged mass deportations by eliminating the top tactic ICE agents use to arrest illegal aliens.

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin wrote on X that “In speaking with numerous ICE sources today, most are expressing frustration that this will cause their arrest numbers to fall off a cliff while in effect. A large majority of their arrests involve vehicle stops. They will now largely have to rely on court arrests, detainer transfers, USCIS interviews, or ‘consensual encounters’ and roving patrols on foot to make arrests in bigger numbers.”

“ICE prefers to target people in their vehicles instead of their homes because homes require a judicial warrant to enter and vehicles are considered safer (someone can run into a home and grab a weapon, etc) and targets can be followed to public areas where warrants aren’t required,” Melugin added.

Melugin said Mullin’s order ending vehicle stops could cut ICE arrests by up to 90 percent. 

“In all the ICE embeds I’ve done over the years, I would say 90% + of the targets were arrested in vehicle stops, though they were egregious aliens (murderers, rapists, etc), and those vehicle stops are still allowed to continue for now. This will have a bigger impact on targets in the U.S. illegally who have committed no other crimes,” Melugin concluded.

Conservatives also worried that Mullin’s pause was sending a message of weakness to the left that would only encourage more violent resistance to mass deportations.

“The communists will simply interpret this “pause” as weakness. They already have. You could end the pause 30 seconds from now, and the damage is already done. The communist has learned what makes the administration blink. A couple of dead street animals are all it takes,” commentator Jesse Kelly wrote on X.
