President Trump went out on a limb in a fight.
Trump usually doesn’t take risks like this.
And Trump just suffered this gut-punch defeat that no one saw coming.
Four days before the Iowa Gubernatorial primary, President Trump stunned supporters by endorsing Congressman Randy Feenstra.
“Highly respected American First Congressman, Randy Feenstra, is running for Governor of Iowa, a place I love and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024, getting the highest Vote in the History of Iowa. Randy is MAGA all the way!
Randy Feenstra has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Governor of Iowa — RANDY WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Feenstra is one of the biggest establishment types in Washington, and Big Ag counts on Feenstra as the number one opponent of the MAGA agenda to keep harmful chemicals out of food.
In Congress, Feenstra opposed MAHA’s push to ban glyphosate, an herbicide used to kill weeds, but it is linked to cancer.
In a stunning upset, farmer Zach Lahn beat the Trump-endorsed Feenstra in the primary.
Lahn secured several key endorsements that enabled him to defeat Feenstra despite Trump’s backing.
One huge endorsement came from Turning Point USA.
Erika Kirk congratulated Lahn on the win.
And Erika Kirk specifically cited Lahn’s support for the MAHA agenda in her post celebrating Turning Point’s role in Lahn’s win.
“Congratulations to Zach Lahn on his victory! He will be a great Governor for all Iowans.
Iowa is one of the most important states in the nation. Proud of our team @TPAction and the work ahead to deliver more MAGA and MAHA wins for the President,” Kirk wrote on X.
MAHA leaders like Alex Clark also rallied to Lahn’s side in this election, boasting that this win proved MAHA is a potent grassroots force that can make or break candidates in Republican primaries.
“What just happened in Iowa is HISTORIC!!!!! Zach Lahn just proved something a lot of people in Washington still don’t understand:
MAHA is not to be F’d with.
An openly anti-glyphosate, anti-corruption candidate just broke through in the biggest ag state in America,” Clark wrote.
And Lahn also made the rounds on podcasts and drew support from influential commentators like Tucker Carlson.
One of the most impressive politicians of this era is running for governor in Iowa. His name is Zach Lahn. Watch this.

Polls showed Feenstra was not excited because of his opposition to MAHA, his lukewarm support for MAGA, and his likely loss to a Democrat.
Lahn’s win gives Republicans their best chance to keep the Iowa Governor’s mansion in Republican hands.
