President Trump and Pope Leo are locked in an escalating war of words.

Trump and Leo have big disagreements.

And Trump gave Pope Leo one piece of advice that is unlike anything in history.

Pope Leo reacted to his opposition to the war in Iran by posting on social media that God doesn’t support war and called for an end to the conflict between Iran and the United States.

“God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples,” Leo wrote on X.

Leo previously said that God wouldn’t answer the prayers of world leaders who started wars and blasted the war in Iran, failing to meet the Catholic Church’s “just war doctrine,” which holds that nations are justified in going to war as an act of self-defense and as a last resort.

President Trump won 56 percent of the Catholic vote in 2024.

But polls show that a majority of Catholics opposed the decision to go to war in Iran.

Catholics are a swing vote in every election, and so Trump pushed back on the Pope, telling CBS that the Pope should stay out of politics altogether.

“He’s wrong on the issues,” Trump said of the Pope. “I don’t think he should be getting into politics. I think he probably learned that from this.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump ripped Leo as “weak on foreign policy” and also slammed the Pope as “weak on crime” for opposing mass deportations as well as the decision to attack Venezuela and remove narcoterrorist President Nicolas Maduro.

“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” Trump wrote in part. “He talks about ‘fear of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart,” Trump wrote.

“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump continued. “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country.”
