Lindsay Clancy Mistrial Causes Outrage

Lindsay Clancy stood trial for strangling her three children, Cory (age 5), Dawson (age 3), and Callan (8 months).

Prosecutors allege that Clancy took her three kids into the basement and strangled them one by one.

The state presented evidence that Clancy performed Google searches on how long the travel route would be for her husband’s errands as evidence that she planned to murder her children while her husband, Thomas, was out of the house.

Clancy’s attorneys didn’t dispute that Clancy killed her children, but claimed Lindsay suffered from postpartum depression, which left her unable to determine right from wrong.

Millions of Americans scoffed at this defense.

But the jury, made up of 9 women and 3 men, couldn’t reach a verdict as the nine female jurors bought Clancy’s claim of mental illness and only one male juror held out to convict her.

Congressman Brandon Gill Reacts to the Mistrial

Fox News host Will Cain interviewed Texas Congressman Brandon Gill and asked for his reaction to the jury’s decision to let Clancy walk for now.

“What are your thoughts on not only the Lindsay Clancy trial, but her defense attorney describing her as brave?” Cain wondered.

Gill explained that the only ones deserving of sympathy in this case were the three innocent children murdered by their mother and that mental health issues weren’t a license to kill.

 “She is anything but brave. That viewer was exactly right. I mean, whenever I look at this, I have an enormous amount of sympathy for those three little innocent kids who were slaughtered. I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for Lindsay Clancy. This is one of those things where I think we ought to be able to draw pretty clear distinction between right and wrong. You don’t get license to murder your children or anybody else just because you have mental health problems,” Gill began.

Gill went on to say that society is “medicalizing evil” and that Clancy deserved the death penalty for her actions.

“But I think, more fundamentally, we have gotten in a habit of medicalizing evil,” Gill added. “What happened here is a woman, maybe she had some problems — we don’t know all the details — who murdered three innocent children, full stop. That’s it. And because of that, I think justice demands that she would receive the death penalty, but, at the very least, whether she was hearing voices or not, it doesn’t really matter. She ought to be locked up and off of our streets for the rest of her life.”
