Anti-Trump comic Jimmy Kimmel found himself in hot water.
Kimme picked up a surprising ally in his fight against President Trump.
Ted Cruz rushed to Jimmy Kimmel’s defense for a reason no one saw coming.
ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel sparked outrage when, 48 hours after he joked about Melania Trump waiting for President Trump to die, a gunman allegedly tried to assassinate Trump.
During a sketch on his show, Kimmel snarked that Melania had the “glow of an expectant widow.”
31-year-old Cole Allen then allegedly tried to bumrush the White House Correspondents Association Dinner and execute Trump.
Cole’s manifesto was filled with the kind of lies and conspiracy theories about Trump that elite Democrats pump into the heads of their followers.
In the wake of the third attempt on her husband’s life, Melania Trump called on ABC to fire Kimmel for inciting another madman to try to assassinate President Trump.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America,” Melania wrote on X. “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.”
“A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?” Melania added.
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr announced the FCC would expedite the review of the licenses for the ABC affiliates owned by Disney.
The National Association of Religious Broadcasters filed a complaint with the FCC claiming Kimmel’s comments “raise[s] serious concerns about the normalization and potential incitement of political violence.”
Kimmel adopted a defiant posture by refusing to apologize and defending his joke.
“It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination,” Kimmel stated. “And they know that.”
Kimmel then claimed the real guilty party in all of this was Donald Trump.
“I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject,” before telling Melania that a “great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it,” Kimmeal added.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who is booked to challenge Vice President J.D. Vance in the 2028 GOP Presidential primary by running as the candidate for Never Trumpers, swiftly condemned Melania Trump’s call to fire Kimmel and the FCC’s actions as censorship.
“It is not the government’s job to censor speech, and I do not believe the FCC should operate as the speech police,’ Cruz told Punch Bowl News.
Cruz also opposed President Trump’s tariffs and sought to pressure Trump into a wider regime change war in Iran than what Trump planned.
Defending Jimmy Kimmel is part of the Never Trump posture Cruz is adopting ahead of 2028.
