Democrats and the deep state thought they had boxed President Trump in.
That turned out to be a big mistake.
And Trump just delivered the deep state’s worst nightmare by making one bold move.
Democrats blocked an extension of the unconstitutional Section 702 of the FISA Act in protest of Trump naming Federal Housing Administration Chairman William Pulte the Acting Director of National Intelligence to replace the departing Tulsi Gabbard.
The swamp’s collective brain melted after Trump revealed Pulte’s marching orders to fire deep-state bureaucrats inside the intelligence community and eliminate the saboteurs hampering his administration.
Many establishment RINOs also secretly agreed with Democrats and breathed a sigh of relief when Trump announced Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton as the permanent nominee to serve as Director of National Intelligence.
That supposedly cleared the way for a FISA renewal.
But then Democrats threw a curveball when Trump called their bluff.
So Trump responded in kind.
“The Republicans agreed with Democrats to remove very fair and talented William Pulte from serving as Acting DNI in return for getting FISA approved by the Democrats,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump saw that Republicans schemed with Democrats to speed up Clayton’s confirmation hearing to block Pulte from ever serving as Acting Director of National Intelligence, to block him from cleaning house in the deep state.
“However, the Republicans moved so fast with the hearings of the Great Jay Clayton, current U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, that Pulte would be gone before the Democrats would vote on FISA. Now, the Democrats are saying they will vote against FISA — So the Republicans wound up having fulfilled their commitment, but Democrats broke the Deal,” Trump added.
Trump went on to say that Democrats were dragging their feet on Clayton’s replacement as the top prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, which would leave that post vacant, so he was leaving Clayton in place until Democrats stopped playing games.
“In addition, the newly nominated U.S. Attorney, Jamie MacDonald, must be confirmed and blue-slipped. Because of the ridiculous views of Republicans on blue slipping (Democrats are often willing to nix it), I may not be able to get the extraordinary Sullivan & Cromwell Partner, Jamie, approved, and I don’t want to take Jay Clayton away from the great job he is doing until Jamie is in place,” Trump stated.
That’s when Trump threw the curveball in announcing he was canceling Clayton’s confirmation hearing so Pulte could now serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence.
“Therefore, to add a slight bit of intrigue but, for the Good of the Nation and the People of our Country, I will not approve FISA without THE SAVE AMERICA ACT going along with it. Not complicated, actually; the Republicans fell into a trap. Regarding the approval of our Great Patriot, Jay Clayton, we are cancelling the Senate Hearing RE: DNI today, and will not be going forward until Jamie MacDonald is approved to be U.S. Attorney. In the meantime, Bill Pulte will remain as the Acting Director of National Intelligence,” Trump concluded.
This hit the deep state like a one-two punch.
Pulte taking the reins as Acting Director of National Intelligence not only means he gets to axe deep state operatives, but it also means the unconstitutional Section 702 of FISA, which allows the government to spy on Americans without a warrant, remains expired.
