Vice President JD Vance is known for his communication skills.

No one expected Vance to say this, though.

And JD Vance’s confession to Laura Ingraham sent shockwaves across America.

President Trump is looking to negotiate a peace deal to end the war with Iran.

Neoconservatives, the swamp, and even many hosts and commentators on Fox News are pushing for the war to continue.

Trump tasked Vice President Vance to hammer out a deal to end the Iran War, leading pro-war pundits like Ben Shapiro, Erick Erickson, Mark Levin and Marc Thiessen to attack Vance as the face of so-called “appeasement” so they can avoid criticizing President Trump, whom they want to lobby to keep the war going.

Laura Ingraham is one of the few Fox hosts who supports President Trump’s America First foreign policy.

Ingraham asked Vance about polls showing the Iran War, now in its fifth month, hurt Trump with the young voters he won over in 2024 and about the attempt by Never Trump neoconservatives to attack him as the face of the negotiations in hopes of hurting his 2028 prospects.

“This is a sticking point with young voters,” Ingraham stated. “We keep hearing there’s progress, and then two days later, there’s no progress… What can you tell the American people? I know you don’t want to get ahead of the president [Donald Trump] or the talks, but you were the face of the talks.”

Vance told Ingraham he was happy to be the face of peace talks since that was President Trump’s charge and polls show that bringing the war to a conclusion is more popular than the neoconservatives’ demand for regime change.

“First of all, if they want to make me own the effort to try to bring this war to a successful conclusion, I’m happy to let them make me own it,” Vance stated. “That sometimes requires one step forward, then two steps back, then three steps forward, and one step back. I can certainly understand the American people are maybe looking at this and they say, ‘Well, it seems like we’re making progress, and then it seems like we’re not.’”

Vance told Ingraham he was under no illusions about who he was dealing with and that he was committed to helping Trump achieve his goal of victory.

“There are people within their system who want the war to be over, but there are also people within their system who are crazy radicals who want the war to continue,” Vance added, “Our job is to navigate through that and get the best outcome for the American people, but for the president of the United States as well.”

Vance admitted of the negotiations that “it’s gonna be messy and it’s gonna take some time to get there,” but Vance assured the American people that “Oil prices are gonna come down and stay down, Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and the United States will be in a stronger position, but we’re kind of in the middle of a game, and I think people are trying to pre-judge exactly how this is gonna go.”

Ingraham agreed and said of people like Theissen, who accused Vance of ‘freelancing,’ and Ericksson, who smeared any peace talks as the Vance plan, “people are trying to drive a wedge between you and Trump.” 

These pundits despise Vance and want to see the GOP nominate a more establishment figure in 2028, so they hope attacking the peace talks as Vance’s failure will cause Trump to reconsider supporting Vance in 2028.
