Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar may finally have found the scandal she can’t outrun.

Americans are demanding answers.

And Ilhan Omar flew into panic mode after this horrifying fraud got exposed.

Omar’s connections to the Feeding our Future scandal in Minnesota, where Somali migrants defrauded taxpayers out of $9 billion, are facing fresh scrutiny thanks to a new committee report detailing Omar’s support for the MEALS Act that enabled this scam to continue.

In a statement to Fox News, Omar tried to claim that she was the one who blew the whistle on the fraud and blamed the Trump administration for scammers bilking taxpayers.

“Any claim that I had knowledge of this scheme is flat-out false,” Omar’s statement read.

“The MEALS Act was signed into law by President Trump and passed with bipartisan support as part of a broader legislative package. Trump’s USDA Secretary set the regulatory framework during the rollout of the program. I have always championed feeding kids and will continue to ensure our children do not go hungry,” Omar added.

Omar claimed she alerted officials the moment this fraud came to light and that she immediately sent a letter to the USDA Secretary demanding answers and accountability.

“As I stated from the beginning, stealing millions of dollars under the guise of feeding hungry children to bankroll lavish lifestyles and extravagant expenses is reprehensible,” Omar concluded. “I’m grateful that Aimee Bock and every individual involved in this abhorrent scheme are being held accountable for defrauding taxpayers and betraying vulnerable children.”

The Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee’s report revealed that the MEALS Act removed guardrails from federal meal programs and allowed non-profiles, like those implemented in the Feed Our Future scandal, to scam the government for meals without providing any proof of services delivered.

The committee’s Republican chair, state Rep. Kristin Robbins, told Fox News that any effort to call attention to the fraud by Omar was an after-the-fact attempt to cover her own tail.

“She only sent a letter once the fraud was exposed,” Robbins stated.

“Before that, she sent letters urging the administration to keep the waivers in place — allowing the fraud to continue. Sounds like revisionist history. I don’t buy it at all,” Robbins added.

The Trump USDA also fired back at Omar and said the agency helped investigate and prosecute the fraud that Minnesota had ample evidence existed, but ignored.

“The reality is simple: Minnesota officials had warnings, complaints, and evidence for months – what MN staff described as an ‘open secret’ – yet failed to stop one of the largest COVID fraud schemes in history,” a USDA spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital in response to Omar. “USDA’s Office of Inspector General helped investigate and arrest dozens involved in the scheme. Regulations do not force states to ignore fraud, and do not absolve them from doing the right thing.  Blaming federal rules after the fact does not erase Minnesota’s failure to act while taxpayers were defrauded of hundreds of millions of dollars meant to feed hungry children.”

The Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee invited Omar to testify, giving her the chance to present her side of the story and clear her name.

Republicans on the committee believe Omar’s silence in response to that offer is telling.
