Hollywood spent a decade warning young Americans that backing President Trump would cost them everything.

But one of the biggest names in music quit listening to that warning a while ago.

And Nicki Minaj just looked into a Fox News camera and said three words the Left can’t stand.

What Nicki Minaj told Lara Trump about November 3

Minaj sat down with Lara Trump for a recent episode of My View with Lara Trump on Fox News.

The Grammy-nominated rapper spent a good stretch of the interview talking straight to young voters who figure the midterms have nothing to do with them.

“Now is not the time to think that your voice will not be heard. Your voice will not only be heard, but your voice is very necessary right now for the country and for the world. We need you guys involved,” Minaj said.

She kept going. “This is your country, this is your world. You are the ones that have to reap the benefits of whatever vote decisions we make now.”

Minaj asked young people to think about how much of a say they want in what happens, then told them to “realize that the only way to have that is by voting.” She pointed them past the top of the ticket too, toward “voting in all of the local elections.”

And then came the line that lit up the internet.

“Please, and vote red now,” Minaj said.

Americans head to the polls on November 3, 2026. Breitbart News noted that many political prognosticators expect a close and contentious cycle.

A Trump supporter who quit apologizing

None of this came out of nowhere. Minaj has walked steadily in this direction for about a year, and she did it in public where everyone in her industry could watch.

In November 2025, Minaj publicly praised President Trump, thanking him for intervening in the “mass slaughter” of Christians in Nigeria by radical Islamists, according to Breitbart News. She later thanked the administration for using one of her songs in a TikTok video.

But the real tell came in December 2025. Minaj took the stage at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest and fired up a packed crowd, praising the organization as “a direct link between young people and God.” Charlie Kirk founded that organization, and an assassin killed him on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University. A star worried about her standing with the Hollywood crowd doesn’t book that gig.

She also went after California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) over his “trans kids” policies. Her message to him was short. “It’s the end of the road for you.”

And in August 2026, Minaj endorsed US Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) to be Florida’s next Governor, urging her fans, the “Barbz,” to “support him” any way they can.

Fox News reported that Trump has called Minaj a “fantastic person.” In the interview, she described the President as “a very authentic person” and said his unscripted way of speaking appeals to her.

“I’ve made it my mission to be someone that supports him,” Minaj said.

RedState picked up another piece of the conversation. “He brings this candid, unedited vibe to the White House that we’ve never before seen,” Minaj said of Trump.

Why the Left can’t let this one go

The reaction arrived right on schedule. The Irish Star reported a wave of online backlash against her remarks, and the left-wing site Jezebel branded her a “rapper-turned-grifter.”

That last one says a lot. A wealthy, world-famous artist with nothing to gain from crossing her own industry gets tagged as a grifter the second she steps off the reservation. Nobody at Jezebel uses that word for the celebrities who line up behind Democrats every two years.

According to Jezebel’s account of the interview, Minaj told Lara Trump that “black people are not allowed to think, we’re not allowed to voice concerns, to make an argument about why we don’t like a particular candidate.” And the people most angry at her seem determined to prove the point.

The country watched this movie before. On October 11, 2018, Kanye West walked into the Oval Office in a red hat and hugged the President. CNN’s Don Lemon called the meeting a “minstrel show.” Fox News’ Special Report aired a clip of CNN contributor Bakari Sellers saying, “Kanye West is what happens when negroes don’t read.”

Those were racialized attacks on a black man for the offense of thinking for himself. The out-of-touch elites who run the entertainment business and the cable panels treat black voters as property of the Democrat Party, and they treat any defection as a betrayal. Minaj is getting the same treatment now, and she doesn’t appear to care.

But does any of it move votes? It would be easy to say Minaj just delivered a generation to the polls, and that would be getting ahead of the evidence. The research cuts both ways. Washington State University researchers, writing in the journal Mass Communication and Society, found that celebrity get-out-the-vote drives lowered complacency among 18-to-24-year-olds in 2004. North Carolina State University’s Michael Cobb ran his own studies and found young voters weren’t swayed by celebrity endorsements, and sometimes liked the candidate less afterward.

So nobody should pretend one interview settles a midterm.

And still, the Left’s fury makes sense. For years, Hollywood enforced one rule above all others, which was that famous people only get to talk politics in one direction. Late-night hosts, award-show speeches, and woke sitcom writers all sang from the same sheet. Americans got tired of the lecture a long time ago.

Minaj broke the rule on television, on the President’s daughter-in-law’s show, a few weeks before an election. And she did it while talking to the young audience the entertainment industry assumed it owned.

There’s a side note here that’s worth a second. Minaj didn’t spend her airtime on abstractions. She talked about local elections. That’s the unglamorous stuff celebrities never mention, and it’s where school boards and prosecutors get picked.

Expect the attacks on her to get uglier as November 3 gets closer. And expect the people making them to keep insisting they speak for the voters she’s talking to.
